Al-Abhath is an
internationally refereed journal
of scholarship on the culture, history, literature and
languages of the Arab World and the Middle East.
Originally the Journal of the Center for Arab and Middle
East Studies, al-Abhath was first published in 1948
as a quarterly for Arab Studies. It has been appearing in
one annual volume since 1970.
Since its inception, al-Abhath has
covered many related fields of interest – Arab and Islamic
studies, sociology, numismatics, history, economics,
language, psychology and astrology – concentrating on the
Arab world. It appears in both Arabic and English, and is
a necessary and useful reference for anyone interested and
engaged in the study of this part of the world.

each volume contains important political documents covering
a single year. It provides access to Arabic sources, both
official and unoffical and includes among others,
government policy declations, political speeches, party
manifestoes and reports from conventions.

Berytus Archaeological Studies

Published since 1934, Berytus is an
international peer-reviewed journal devoted primarily to
archaeological, ethnoarchaeological and historical studies
on Lebanon and Syria from prehistoric to Ottoman times. It
is published annually by AUB's Faculty of Arts and
Sciences. Some recent volumes have been devoted to
publishing the results of
excavations conducted by an archaeological team from the
American University of Beirut (AUB) in collaboration with a
group of British archaeologists and organizations at a
group of sites in and around the souks of post-war Beirut
between 1994 and 1997.
